From Cloud Migration to Artificial Intelligence Transformation: How Businesses Unlock Real Value

Cloud adoption has enabled many organisations to adopt a Digital First strategy by providing a more flexible, efficient, and scalable option for implementing digital services. However, the most significant value of using the Cloud is that, when combined with the Cloud infrastructure with the added layer of Artificial Intelligence, they become a source to innovate.

By moving away from their legacy-based technology and modernising their IT infrastructure through their transition to the Cloud, organisations can access new capabilities and enhance the way they conduct their business. However, simply having your applications and data in the Cloud does not mean that an organisation will be successful operating in an environment that is changing rapidly or that an organisation will maintain a competitive advantage over time. In order to remain competitive, organisations need to leverage the capabilities of their AWS Cloud and leverage AI in order to gain insights into and analyse their operations in a way that will have a greater impact on business outcomes.

Cloud platforms may be the best option for implementing artificial intelligence (AI) because of their ability to scale, offer advanced analytics tools and provide storage for additional data. This will help organizations efficiently process large amounts of data, create new insights, recognize new patterns, and make informed decisions in a timely manner. These capabilities will help organizations evolve from a reactive state to a proactive state.

The impact of combining cloud and AI technology on organization efficiency comes from automating processes. Automation allows for the completion of a large number of repetitive and routine tasks (e.g., data analysis, system monitoring, customer interactions) with little to no human input, while saving substantial amounts of money. As such, an organization can spend more time and resources on innovation and developing themselves professionally. Companies can also use an AI-enabled system to provide better customer service, improve response times to customer inquiries and offer customers a customized experience.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) helps improve the quality of decision making and the speed of making decisions. Businesses generate enormous volumes of data every day; however, much of that data is wasted because companies do not have data analytical tools available to help them derive value from that information. Using AI, businesses can transform raw data into actionable insights via analysing historic data trends and forecasting future activities while providing actionable recommendations. Additionally, businesses will be able to link public and private data through cloud computing services so they have access to scalable company-wide solutions which will allow them to create informed decisions at record speed.

AI Technologies will also improve the safety and performance of business processes. AI Technologies utilise intelligent algorithms to detect abnormal behaviours, evaluate potential threats and respond to threat events in real time. As a result of these capabilities, AI will increase the total level of security for companies that utilise AI in the protection of their IT assets.

Additionally, AI Technologies will improve the efficiency of companies' use of cloud computing resources through the evaluation of the historical consumption patterns for cloud resources and then automatically adjusting the capacity of the cloud resources to meet those demands, while at the same time still making the most effective use of cloud resources and delivering a positive end-user experience.

To transition from a cloud computing environment to one that uses artificial intelligence, extensive planning is needed. The first step that an organisation must take is to ensure that its data is structured correctly, can be accessed by the appropriate people, and has been prepared to support the purpose for which AI technology has been deployed. The second step is selecting AI tools and architectures to support long-term business goals whilst ensuring that these tools provide the capabilities of flexibility and scalability needed to continue growing and innovating.

The AI implementation journey will continue beyond the initial implementation of AI; to realise the full value of AI systems, they must be continuously monitored and improved. As technologies evolve, organisations must be willing to embrace innovative technology to improve processes and enhance the customer experience.

Migrating to the cloud is only one small step toward achieving a larger transformation. By integrating their cloud infrastructure with artificial intelligence, organisations will open up new avenues for growth and innovation that will allow them to better respond to the challenges presented by the ever-changing, complex digital environment.
